Cuadrilla Resources is currently test drilling on land in Lancashire.

Shale gas is believed to be held in a vast bed of rock called the Bowland Shale which runs from Clitheroe to Blackpool.

A University of Manchester report says there is evidence such gas drilling can contaminate the water supply, but the government insists it is safe.

That report was funded by the Co-operative: their head of Social Goals, Paul Monaghan and Mark Millar, chief executive of Cuadrilla Resources, debate the issue.
