A Fylde Coast Energy Company says Blackpool could become the shale gas capital of Europe.
Cuadrilla Resources start work today to see if the process to extract gas from deep under the rock in Singleton and Weeton is viable.
Environmentalists aren't happy and reckon the project could contaminate local water supplies. But Cuadrilla boss Mark Miller tells Radio Wave he's happy it's safe.
